Guntur Municipal Corporation is the first largest ULB in the Guntur District of A.P. It is spread over an area of 159.46 km2 with a population of 9,06,344 (2024 census). The sex ratio is 999 females per 1000 males. The literacy rate has been 66.08%, 69.46% of the male population and 62.69 % of the female population are literate. The city limits are expanded by merging the ten surrounding villages into the corporation. There exists 57 political divisions post merger of villages into the corporation.
Guntur is renowned for its significant contributions to agriculture, particularly for Chilly, Cotton, and Tobacco. It boasts the largest Chilli-market yard in Asia, making it a key player in the spice trade.
